The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is an official auxiliary of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Since 1942, the LWML has focused on affirming each woman’s relationship with Christ, encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries and to support global missions.
LWML
Mission Statement
As Lutheran Women in Mission, we joyfully proclaim Christ, support missions, and equip women to honor God by serving others.
Vision Statement
The LWML is the leading group for LCMS women, where each woman is welcomed and encouraged to use her unique God-given gifts as she supports global missions and serves the Lord with gladness.
All women members of Faith Lutheran Church are considered members of Faith Women in Mission and invited to attend the meetings and activities. Monthly meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from September through May. Refreshments begin at 9:30 am, followed by a Bible study and business meeting. We encourage our members to be engaged in the Word and service to others.
Women of Faith
Women of Faith meets every other Wednesday from 9:00 – 11:00 am to make quilts, pillows, and lap robes. The ladies work throughout the year and then display the quilted items at the Church during November for blessing before distribution. Congregation members may purchase items during the display by making a freewill donation. Funds from those donations are used to purchase toys to be delivered along with quilts to the Redlands Christian Migrant Association Head Start Program. The toys and quilt items are given to the parents so they may give them to their children on Christmas Day.
Quilts are also provided to the Meals on Wheels organization and to the Solve House for their clients. Quilts, pillows, and laprobes made by the group are also given to our congregation’s homebound members. The group is always ready to welcome new volunteers to iron, cut, tie, sew, or lay out quilts to be sewn. There are tasks available for every skill level. Contact Marjorie Weiss if you have any questions.
GriefShare
If you’ve lost a spouse, a child, another family member, or a close friend, you’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you are feeling. It may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future right now. This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before.
Faith Lutheran Church sponsors a GriefShare support group ministry, open to both members of our congregation and the local community, that is intended to help people cope with a loss.
How GriefShare works
GriefShare is a Biblically based program developed by top experts in grief and recovery. The GriefShare support group meets weekly to help you face your challenges and move toward rebuilding your life.
Each GriefShare session has three distinct elements.
-
-
- Video presentation: where others talk to you.
Each week your GriefShare group will watch a video seminar featuring top experts on grief and recovery subjects. These videos are produced in an interesting television magazine format featuring expert interviews, real-life case studies, dramatic reenactments, and on-location video. - Group discussion: where you talk to each other.
After viewing the video, you and the other group members will spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week’s video seminar and what is going on in your lives. - Workbook exercises: where God talks to you and you talk to Him.
During the week you will have the opportunity to use your workbook for further personal study of the grieving process and to help sort out your emotions through journaling. Your group will spend time discussing questions and comments from the workbook study.

We invite anyone who has experienced a loss in the past 2-3 years to give prayerful thought to participating in this program. The next session of this program will begin on Monday, April 15th at 6:30 pm. Please contact the church office if you wish to participate in the next session.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
Pastoral Care
If you are ill or otherwise unable to attend Divine Services in person, please contact the church office (office@faithlutheranfl.com or 941-776-1395). We can schedule a time for Pastor to pray with you, absolve you, and give you communion, as appropriate.
Need a Friend? Be a Friend!
Matt. 25:36b,39-40 “I was sick and you visited me. I was in prison and you came to me… When did we see you sick or in prison and visit you? And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ “
Have the events of the past few months made you feel like you are in a prison? Have you felt lonely, just wanting to hear a friendly voice and know someone cares? Faith Lutheran Church is a caring community of people. If you would like to receive a friendly phone call a few times a week, just saying “Hi! I care about you. How are you doing?” then contact the Church office and you will be teamed up with a new friend.
Would you like to be a friend, bringing a little love and sunshine into someone’s day? Perhaps a little ‘Son-shine’? Contact the Church office to be paired up. You are blessed to be a blessing to others.
For those members who are no longer able to be as mobile as they wish and need a little assistance with errands, please contact the church office and we will arrange help for you. Other members are willing to assist with light shopping, picking up medicine, or providing masks.
